It was a sea of pink shirts on a rainy Saturday morning, with approximately 4,000 members of Team Oncor walking in Dallas on Sept. 8 in support of the American Heart Association (AHA) and their commitment to fight against heart disease and stroke.
For the seventh consecutive year, Oncor Electric Delivery Company employees, friends and family members gathered at the base of Reunion Tower in downtown Dallas for the 2018 Dallas Heart Walk, the country’s largest walk benefiting the AHA. Team Oncor was the largest Heart Walk team in the nation.
As part of the event, Oncor employees raised $100,000 for the AHA. In addition, the company received donations from 120 suppliers and partners whose contributions totaled more than $420,000.
Susie Browder, an administrative assistant at Oncor’s Waco Service Center, has participated in the Heart Walk for the past six years, since she started working at Oncor. “I continue to be a part of this important event because any event that helps another’s life improve is important,” said Browder. “I believe in what this event can do for others and will continue to participate and support the campaign.”
Since 2012, Oncor has raised more than $5.1 million for education, research and AHA programs that combat heart disease and stroke.
