Sempra Energy was recognized as a 2017 Top 100 Global Energy Leader by Thomson Reuters, the multinational mass media firm. The first-time study reviewed more than 1,600 energy businesses to recognize those that excel in a complex business environment by balancing financial demands with regulatory, legal, social and environmental needs.
“We are pleased to be recognized by Thomson Reuters as one of the top global energy companies,” says Dennis Arriola, executive vice president of corporate strategy and external affairs, and chief sustainability officer for Sempra Energy. “This recognition demonstrates that we are delivering results for our customers and shareholders while living our values — operating in an ethical and responsible way every day in the communities we serve.”
The methodology, developed by the Thomson Reuters Boston Innovation Lab , is based on eight principle pillars of performance: financial; management and investor confidence; risk and resilience; legal compliance; innovation; people and social responsibility; environmental impact; and reputation.
The Top 100 Global Energy Leader list also includes four sub-sector rankings based on industry. As part of this breakdown, Sempra Energy was named a Top 25 Global Multiline Utilities Honoree . Thomson Reuters considered 55 multiline utility companies for the sub-sector list, which used the same methodology as the Top 100 Global Energy Leader ranking.
