Sempra Energy Named to ‘Best Corporate Citizens’ List for 10 Straight Years
For the 10th consecutive year, Sempra Energy has been named to Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list. The company was ranked at No. 66, making it one of the top energy companies on the list.
“At Sempra Energy, our mission is to be North America’s premier energy infrastructure company,” said Dennis V. Arriola, executive vice president and group president, and chief sustainability officer for Sempra Energy. “Our employees believe in our long-term sustainability, and they work to make it happen – with a clear focus on safety performance, limiting environmental impact and innovating for the future.”
“U.S. corporate leadership matters more than ever to drive progress on environmental and social topics like climate change,” said Dave Armon, CEO of 3BL Media, which publishes CR Magazine. “Transparency and public commitments make corporate responsibility and sustainability programs stronger. We congratulate those honored on this year's ranking for their commitment to the triple bottom line.”
The “100 Best Corporate Citizens” ranking is based on assessment of the companies on the Russel 1000 Index – a stock market index that tracks 1,000 of the largest companies in the U.S. The assessment is based on a company’s scores in seven areas: employee relations, environment, climate change, governance, stakeholders, human rights and financial performance.
