San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) received the prestigious Platts Global Energy Award for Industry Leadership in the Power sector at the 19th annual awards ceremony held in New York City.
The Industry Leadership Award recognizes SDG&E for its successes in innovation, operational excellence, safety and security. The judges found the company’s aspirations to reduce its carbon footprint, integrate technology, and modernize and improve its system to be worthy of recognition.
“This award demonstrates how innovative thinking can result in making things better for customers, and we are honored to be recognized for our commitment to become the cleanest, safest and most reliable energy company in America,” said Scott Drury, president of SDG&E.
This recognition highlights SDG&E’s efforts to lead transformational change in the energy industry and develop solutions to some of society’s most profound challenges. The company has remained focused on aggressively increasing the use of renewable energy, enabling electric vehicle ownership and expanding energy storage to more effectively utilize power from the sun and wind.
SDG&E was selected for the Industry Leadership Award in the Power sector out of 11 finalists, chosen from more than 200 nominations, by a committee of industry experts.
