As Vice President of Security and Technology for Sempra Energy, Eric Trapp’s goal each day is to leave things better than he found them – whether that’s coming up with solutions to tough problems or providing crucial information to employees throughout the company.
“I want to leave an impact, both with my employees and across all the services we provide,” said Trapp.
Trapp’s team is responsible for cybersecurity services, physical security services and technology support for Sempra Energy and some of its operating companies.
Championing People and Shaping the Future
“Our people are essential in achieving our mission to become North America’s premier energy infrastructure company,” said Trapp.
Trapp is committed to carrying out Sempra’s value of championing people by promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, encouraging his team to think outside the box and recognizing his employees for their contributions to the company’s success.
They are constantly working to shape the future of the company by focusing on innovative technologies to improve operations throughout the business, such as robotic process automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Giving Back to Employees and the Community
Sempra Energy’s vision is delivering energy with purpose, and the company encourages employees to find connections between their purpose at work and their personal life. For Trapp, it all comes down to helping others.
“I love being able to give back to my company and my team, and to provide new information and new experiences,” said Trapp. “I like doing that in the community as well. I volunteer for Veteran’s Village in San Diego, helping our homeless veterans get a new start. It’s all about helping people advance through a challenge.”
