Addressing Unconscious Bias and Inspiring Inclusion
Everyone has blind spots – unconscious biases that lead to assumptions about someone’s abilities and potential. At Sempra Energy, we actively seek to understand how we can foster a more inclusive, high-performing culture where diverse viewpoints are both welcomed and respected.
Sempra Energy recently hosted the Check Your Blind Spots unconscious bias tour to bring a unique, technology-enabled educational experience to our San Diego headquarters. Operated by the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, the mobile experience features seven interactive stations. More than 200 employees immersed themselves to learn about and mitigate unconscious bias in their everyday lives.
We know diversity drives performance. Whether it’s by raising awareness, challenging biases or simply being an example of respectful inclusion, all employees are encouraged to put their energy into creating a better workplace for all.
