Sharon Tomkins is vice president of sustainability for Sempra, overseeing the company’s environmental, social and governance efforts, and corporate sustainability strategy.
Previously, she served as vice president of strategy, engagement, and chief environmental officer for Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas), one of Sempra’s California utility infrastructure businesses. In that role, Tomkins led SoCalGas’ energy policy and strategy, which included issues management for balanced energy, energy choice, affordability and reliability. Prior to that, she served as SoCalGas’ general counsel and regulatory assistant general counsel. Before joining SoCalGas, she was a partner at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, where she was a founding member of the firm’s Energy, Natural Resources & Environmental Practice. She also developed and taught the Energy Law, Policy & Climate Change course at UCLA School of Law.
Tomkins is chair of the board of directors for The California Minority Counsel Program. She is also a director for the Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundation and serves on its audit committee.
Tomkins holds a bachelor’s degree in English, with high distinction, from Pennsylvania State University and graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.
