Paul Yong is vice president, chief tax counsel for Sempra. In this role, he has oversight of the tax counsel function and is responsible for tax strategy for the organization.
Yong first joined Sempra in 2004 as director of corporate tax and has held positions of increasing responsibility in Sempra’s tax department.
Yong is the former chair of the board of directors of San Diego Habitat for Humanity and the former chair of the Manufacturer Alliance Tax Council. He is co-author of "Corporate Income Tax Accounting," a desktop treatise published by Thomson Reuters. Yong also is an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law.
Yong holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Hawaii, a master’s degree in tax law from New York University and a Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of Law. He also completed the executive program at Oxford University.
