Jeffrey W. Martin
As chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Sempra, Jeff Martin leads a Fortune 500 energy infrastructure company with a market capitalization of nearly $40 billion and assets of over $65 billion. Sempra’s more than 19,000 employees serve the daily energy needs of more Americans than any other company.
Prior to becoming CEO, Martin served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Sempra. He also previously served as CEO of San Diego Gas & Electric, one of Sempra’s California utilities, and president and CEO of Sempra U.S. Gas & Power and Sempra Generation.
Martin currently serves on the board of directors of the American Petroleum Institute, is a member of the Business Roundtable, a governor of the Oil and Gas and Electricity communities for the World Economic Forum and the co-chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Saudi Arabia Business Program. He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the University of San Diego.
In addition to his private sector experience, Martin formerly served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army where he was a pilot in the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. He holds a bachelor of science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a law degree from the University of Miami.
