The President’s visit to Copper Mountain Solar 1
On March 21, 2012, President Barack Obama became the first U.S. President to visit a Sempra Energy facility when he toured Sempra U.S. Gas & Power’s Copper Mountain Solar 1 facility in Nevada. Here are a few highlights of the visit:
National spotlight: With national media gathered at the site, the President spoke to a crowd of about 200 people.
Landmark solar: President Obama highlighted the scale and significance of Copper Mountain Solar 1, one of the largest photovoltaic solar plants in the U.S.
Energy agenda: The President expressed support for expanded development of U.S. renewable energy sources, including wind and solar, as well as domestically-produced, clean natural gas.
