Other energy resources
Sempra Energy favors the development of alternative- and renewable-energy resources like solar and wind energy.

Sempra Energy companies have taken part in alternative- and renewable-energy projects for many years.

Renewable energy
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), for instance, has a goal to achieve a 20-percent renewable portfolio mix by 2010. To date, it has renewable-energy projects under contract or being developed for wind, landfill gas/biogas and hydroelectric generation.

And Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas), among other programs, offers a Self-Generation Incentive Program that provides businesses financial incentives to help persuade them to install electricity-generation technologies. Those incentives increase when the technologies run on renewable fuels.

Solar energy
To increase public awareness of and create interest in solar energy, Sempra Generation has built a solar-photovoltaics demonstration project at the site of its natural gas-fueled El Dorado Power site near Boulder City, Nev.
