Sempra Energy is the international sponsor of "Ocean Oasis,"
an IMAX film that helps teach audiences worldwide about the importance
of environmental conservation.
The film focuses on marine life in Mexico's Sea of Cortés, as
well as plants, animals and habitat on islands in the area.
This educational film was produced by Summerhays Films in partnership
with the San Diego Natural History Museum and Pronatura, one of Mexico's
leading environmental groups.
Moving into a different world
In the making of this great film, a team of scientists explored unknown
areas, sometimes at great personal risk. They trekked, flew and dove to
unveil the secrets of remote areas on land, in the air and beneath the
sea. Now, audiences who would never have seen these remote wildernesses
can witness this beauty and wildlife.
Proceeds from "Ocean Oasis" support conservation, education
and research in the Baja California peninsula and the Sea of Cortés.
The film is shown in theaters across the United States, Canada, Europe,
Asia and Mexico. "Ocean Oasis" was shown to environmental
ministers from many nations taking part in the World
Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa.
