Increased efficiency
Sempra Generation built a 1,200-megawatt (MW) power plant 40 miles west of Phoenix, Ariz., that produces 40 to 45 percent more electricity for the same fuel input and emissions as standard power plants.
3,000 acres of open space
Sempra Generation set aside 3,000 acres of land purchased for water rights as open space, with 42 acres for a conservation area. Prior to construction, cactus and Mesquite trees were placed in a plant nursery, then replanted at the site.
Because Sempra Generation meets California air-emission standards, this is the cleanest power plant in Arizona.
