Baja California
Rosarito
Sempra Energy finished a 23-mile-long natural gas transmission line from San Diego to a power plant in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico, that allowed the Mexican government's oil-fueled plant to shift much of its fuel use to natural gas.

Mexicali
As a result of the Rosarito pipeline project, and Sempra Pipelines & Storage's delivery of natural gas to homes and businesses in Mexicali via ECOGAS, the company greatly reduced air emissions in Baja California. The total includes 41,350 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO2), more than 2,650 tons of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and 2,700 tons of particulate matter larger than 10 microns (PM10).

Mainland Mexico
Chihuahua and the La Laguna area
Sempra Pipelines & Storage has natural gas utility operations, known as ECOGAS, in two areas of mainland Mexico-Chihuahua and La Laguna-1 (spanning the states of Coahuila and Durango). Sempra Energy has helped clear the air in those regions by allowing residential and business customers to choose natural gas instead of diesel, fuel oil and propane.

Bajanorte pipeline
The Gasoducto Bajanorte natural gas pipeline provides natural gas to power plants and industrial customers across northern Baja California.

Mexico's Secretariat of Energy says energy demand will likely double in Mexico during the next 10 years. So, the more clean-burning natural gas there is in Mexico, the greater the cuts in air emissions.
