NGVs at SoCalGas

Natural gas vehicles continue to grow in popularity as businesses and consumers focus on improving air quality. Today, there are more than 20,000 NGVs in California, 110,000 throughout the United States and 1.5 million worldwide.

Fueling NGV growth
To help support the use of NGVs, SoCalGas leads efforts to build NGV refueling stations throughout its service area, which spans 20,000 square mile of Southern California.

The use of NGVs to replace standard cars, trucks and buses helps clear the air for everyone.

A line along the coastline
SoCalGas built a natural gas line to deliver fuel for shuttle buses at a famous tourist site, Hearst Castle, along California's coastline.

As a result, that California State Park can use natural gas fuel for its fleet of 16 shuttle buses that transport about 1 million visitors per year from the visitor's center to the hilltop Hearst Castle, a 10-mile round trip. The natural gas-fueled buses replaced older, diesel-powered buses and reduced air emissions by 75 percent.
