Our diversity policy has become a benchmark for business. We have received
local and national honors, including:
- Southern California Gas
Co. received the 2006 "Odyssey Award" from the Asian Business Association for its supplier-diversity efforts to help develop and expand many Asian-owned businesses.
- Ranked in the top 10 companies in Hispanic
Business magazine's yearly list of "Top 50 Companies for Hispanics" in 2006. Chosen for a commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity.
- Sempra Energy earned a top spot in DiversityInc magazine's
yearly list of "Top 50 Companies for Diversity" in supplier diversity. The
company also was chosen as the No. 29 company for overall diversity in
2007.
- Listed among the top five of Fortune magazine's
"America's 50 Best Companies for Minorities" since 1998.
- Received the Exemplary Voluntary Efforts (EVE) Award from the United
States Department of Labor for the quality of our Affirmative-Action
programs. This esteemed award is given to only a handful of U.S. companies
each year for providing enhanced equal-employment opportunity in the
workplace without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national
origin, disability or status as a service-disabled veteran.
- Chosen as a benchmark study site for former U.S. Vice President Al
Gore's "National Partnership for Reinventing Government
Achieving Workforce Diversity."
- Received a Corporate Leadership Award from the County of Los
Angeles Commission on Human Relations
