Sharing Works
You may know us in California through San Diego Gas & Electric or Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas). Around the rest of the country and the world, you may know us through one of our other companies that build and operate energy infrastructure, sell energy commodities and provide asset risk management. Together, we're Sempra Energy.
But, chances are, you may also think of us in terms of a human relationship: a neighbor who works as an electric lineman and coaches youth soccer, a retiree who volunteers for the Red Cross or a customer service representative who chairs a PTA committee.
Community partners
and more
That's because every company is a reflection of its people, and our people give back to the communities where they work and live. Last year alone, Sempra Energy, its family of companies and its employees contributed more than $10 million and more than 50,000 volunteer hours.
But, that's not all we do to help.
We help
Our California utilities offer a wide range of programs to help lower-income customers conserve energy and save money on their bills. And these programs really work. SoCalGas, for instance, announced not long ago that customers enrolled in the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program have saved $614 million since the program began 15 years ago.
As a combined company, we're building new power plants and transmission
lines, adding renewable resources to our energy portfolio and helping
address the growing shortages in natural gas supplies through the
development of the energy infrastructure that will help introduce
liquefied natural gas (LNG) in our region—all to help provide
the power people need for the quality of life they want.
At Sempra Energy, we believe that investing in the community is not only good business; it's the right thing to do. And that's why we've developed Sharing Works. Through it, we'll keep you up to date with many of our efforts—and yours—to not only give back, but to improve quality of life.
