Employee programs

The Sempra Energy Foundation is proud of the commitment to the community employees of the Sempra Energy family of companies show every day on and off the job. Employees participate in several employee programs funded by the Sempra Energy Foundation to help our communities.

Employees who support their community through volunteerism are encouraged to apply for the Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP) which rewards employees for their dedication of time and talent to charities. In 2009, the Sempra Energy Foundation processed nearly 1,200 VIP grants to charities on behalf of employees of the Sempra Energy family of companies and their volunteer work in our communities. In addition, the Sempra Energy Foundation supports the dedication of employees who contribute their time and talent to charitable organizations in their communities during the holidays through the Season of Giving Program.

To foster giving, employees who make contributions to eligible education or arts and culture charitable organizations are encouraged to apply for the Matching Gift Program. Over $870,000 were matched to deserving organizations in 2009 through this dollar-for-dollar matching program.

Through the Challenge Grant Program, the Sempra Energy Foundation encourages employees to participate in pre-selected community events that raise funds for health and human services organizations.
