  • Donald E. Felsinger Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

    Donald E. Felsinger is chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies' 13,800 employees serve 29 million consumers worldwide.

    In his current position, which he has held since Feb. 1, 2006, Felsinger directs the strategic operations of all the Sempra Energy companies.

    Felsinger previously was president and chief operating officer of Sempra Energy, when he was responsible for implementing Sempra Energy’s growth strategy and for overall management of the Sempra Energy companies. He has been a member of the board of directors since 2004.

    Before that, Felsinger was group president of Sempra Global, the umbrella for Sempra Energy’s businesses operating in competitive energy markets. In that position, Felsinger led Sempra Energy’s expansion into successful businesses in power generation, energy-infrastructure development, energy trading and marketing, and liquefied natural gas development.

    Prior to the merger that formed Sempra Energy, beginning Jan. 1, 1998, Felsinger served as president and chief operating officer of Enova Corporation, the parent company of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E).

    Previously, Felsinger was president and chief executive officer of SDG&E from 1996 to 1998. He also was a board director of SDG&E and executive vice president of Enova Corporation. Prior to that, Felsinger was executive vice president of SDG&E, a position he held from 1993 to 1996.

    After Felsinger joined SDG&E in 1972, he held a variety of officer positions with responsibility for all aspects of the utility business.

    Felsinger is a graduate of the Stanford University executive program and also has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arizona. He serves as the director of the Northrop Grumman Corp. and as a member of the Conference Board, the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, and the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. Felsinger has also served on the green Foundation and was co-chair of the Forum Fronterizo Council of the San Diego Dialogue.

  • Neal E. Schmale President and Chief Operating Officer

    Neal E. Schmale is president, chief operating officer and a member of the board of directors for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based, Fortune 500, energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies' 13,800 employees serve more than 29 million consumers worldwide.

    In his current job Schmale is responsible for implementing Sempra Energy's growth strategy and for overall management of the Sempra Energy companies. He has been a member of the board of directors since 2004.

    Schmale was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sempra Energy.

    Before his career at Sempra Energy, Schmale was chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors of UNOCAL Corp. and had earlier served as UNOCAL's senior vice president and president of its Petroleum Products and Chemical division. Throughout his 29-year career at UNOCAL, Schmale held a range of jobs in the operations, legal and finance functions.

    Schmale, a native of Nebraska, has a law degree from Loyola University of Los Angeles' Law School and a bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He is a member of the board of directors of Murphy Oil Corp. and serves on its audit and compensation committees. He is the nonexecutive chairman of the board of directors of the WD-40 Co., and was a chairman of its audit committee. Schmale is a member of the California Bar.

  • Javade Chaudhri Executive Vice President and General Counsel

    Javade Chaudhri is executive vice president and general counsel for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy-services company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. Sempra Energy’s 13,800 employees serve more than 29 million consumers in the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, South America and Asia.

    Chaudhri, who has served in his current position since 2003 when he joined the company, is responsible for all legal affairs and compliance for Sempra Energy. He also serves as Sempra Energy’s chief environmental officer. Previously from 2001 to 2003, Chaudhri served as senior vice president and general counsel of San Diego-based Gateway Inc. since 2001, managing the company’s legal affairs, government relations, contract administration and ethics.

    Prior to joining Gateway as deputy general counsel in 1999, Chaudhri was a senior partner in the Washington, D.C., office of the international law firm of Winston & Strawn, where he co-managed the international and technology practice groups. Prior to that, Chaudhri was a partner at the law firm Jones Day Reavis & Pogue.

    Chaudhri has worldwide experience in helping major private and public-sector companies transact business, and undertake mergers and acquisitions projects. He also has been involved in providing regulatory advice before a number of federal agencies, as well as taking part in major litigation, mediation and arbitration matters. He has written and lectured widely on international infrastructure projects, technology, and commercial law. He has served as a visiting faculty member for the International Development Law Organization in Rome and the International Law Institute in Washington, D.C.

    Chaudhri has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Yale University in New Have, Conn. and a law degree from Georgetown University in Washington D.C.

  • Amy H. Chiu Vice President,
    Risk Analysis and Management

    Amy Chiu is vice president of risk analysis and management for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.     Previously, Chiu was vice president of audit services, where she was responsible for Sempra Energy’s internal audit function. Before that, she held positions of increasing responsibility including director of business planning in the mergers and acquisitions group, manager of executive projects and manager of economic analysis.

    Prior to joining Sempra Energy, Chiu held senior-level financial and actuarial analyst positions for Intelsat and Watson Wyatt Worldwide.

    Chiu currently serves on the board of directors of the Preuss School at University of California, San Diego. She has a master’s degree in business administration from American University in Washington D.C., a doctorate in mathematics from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Mills College in Oakland, Calif.

    Randall Clark is vice president of corporate relations and corporate secretary for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.     As vice president of corporate relations Clark oversees government programs, compliance, corporate responsibility and corporate communications for Sempra Energy. Clark also serves as corporate secretary, coordinating and recording all meetings of the board of directors and its committees, serving as a liaison between the directors and the chief executive officer of the company, and overseeing corporate governance and corporate structuring for the company.

    Previously, Clark was a managing attorney with Sempra Energy, where he oversaw a variety of domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, development projects and international legal issues. He was also principally responsible for corporate governance and corporate structuring matters for Sempra Energy subsidiaries, Sempra LNG, Sempra Generation and Sempra Pipelines & Storage.

    Prior to joining Sempra Energy in 2000, Clark was an attorney with the law firm of Cooley Godward LLP. There, his practice focused on a full range of corporate and securities matters, including corporate formations, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, venture financing, joint ventures, initial public offerings and general business counseling for both public and private companies. Previously, Clark was a corporate attorney with Morrison & Foerster, LLP.

    Clark graduated with honors from Duke University’s School of Law with an emphasis in international and comparative law. He also holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Pepperdine University, where he graduated summa cum laude.

    Clark is a member of several bar associations and also serves on the board of the Southern California chapter of the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals.

  • Steven D. Davis Vice President,

    Steven D.     As vice president of investor relations, Davis oversees Sempra Energy’s shareholder relations and communications with the financial community and investors.

    Prior to this role, Davis served as vice president of communications and community partnerships, where he was responsible for Sempra Energy’s communications and community relations activities, as well as the company’s media relations, employee communications, issues management, corporate branding, advertising and reputation management functions.

    Previously, Davis was senior vice president of external relations and chief financial officer for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas), Sempra Energy’s California regulated utilities. Before that, he served as senior vice president of customer service and external relations for SDG&E and SoCalGas and vice president of distribution operations for SDG&E. Other executive assignments have included division manager of customer operations and division manager of governmental and administrative services.

    Davis serves on the board of the Campanile Foundation. He is also on the advisory boards of San Diego Senior Community Centers and the San Diego Burn Institute. Davis has a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting) from San Diego State University, where he graduated with honors.

    Prior to her role as vice president, Haas was the director of investments for Sempra Energy and held numerous positions with the company in the areas of investment management, business and market development and financial planning and analysis.

    Before joining Sempra Energy in 1993, Haas held a senior-level financial analyst role at General Dynamics.

    Haas holds both a master's and bachelor's degree in business from New Mexico State University.

    Joseph A.     In his current job, Householder oversees the financial reporting and controls, financial planning and tax functions for all of Sempra Energy's companies.

    Before this job, Householder served as vice president of Corporate Tax and chief tax counsel for Sempra Energy since 2001, where he oversaw Sempra Energy's worldwide tax affairs.

    Prior to joining Sempra Energy in 2001, Householder was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the firm's national tax office. Before that, he was vice president of Corporate Development and assistant chief financial officer of Unocal until 1999. There, Householder was responsible for worldwide tax planning, financial reporting and forecasting, and risk-management compliance.

    Before that, Householder served as an associate attorney at the firm of Halstead, Baker & Olson from 1984 to 1986. Prior to that, he was a certified public accountant at Maginnis, Knechtel & McIntyre from 1979 to 1984.

    Householder has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Southern California and a law degree from Loyola Law School. Also, he has completed the executive program at UCLA Anderson School.

    He is a member of the Tax Executives Institute, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Bar and the American Bar Association.

  • Debra L. Reed Executive Vice President

    Debra L. Reed is executive vice president for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies' 13,800 employees serve 29 million consumers worldwide.

    Before joining Sempra Energy, Reed served as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas), Sempra Energy’s regulated California utilities.

    From 1984 to 1994, Reed held leadership positions with SoCalGas, including vice president of human resources, vice president of administrative services, manager of environmental engineering and manager of personnel relations. In 1983, she served as area market services manager after five years of working in marketing. Reed joined SoCalGas in February 1978 as an energy systems engineer and, in 1988, became the first female officer appointed at the company.

    Reed serves on the board of directors of UCSD’s Jacobs School of Engineering and for Halliburton Company; the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation; the American Gas Association; and the Precourt Institute for Energy Efficiency at Stanford University. She is a member of The Trusteeship, an affiliate of the International Women’s Forum. Previously, Reed served on the board of directors of Genentech, Dominguez Services Corporation, and the University of Southern California Board of Councilors.

    In 2006, Reed was inducted into the Junior Achievement San Diego Business Hall of Fame. In 2004, she was awarded “Woman of the Year” from the California Science Center and was named one of San Diego Magazine's “50 People to Watch.” Reed received the 23rd Annual Tribute to Women and Industry (TWIN) Award from the YWCA of San Diego County in 2002. She was a recipient of the League of Women Voters Glass Ceiling Award in 2000. Reed was featured on the cover of the July 2002 issue of Gas Utility Manager magazine for an article on making mergers work.

    Reed graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

  • Mark A. Snell Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

    Mark A. Snell is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.     Snell formerly was group president of Sempra Global, the umbrella organization for the competitive businesses of Sempra Energy. In that position, Snell oversaw all aspects of Sempra Global in competitive energy markets, including energy trading, electric generation, liquefied natural gas, pipelines and storage facilities, international utilities and retail energy marketing.

    Before becoming group president, Snell was chief financial officer of Sempra Global overseeing the acquisitions, business development and all financial matters for the group.

    Prior to his role with Sempra Global, Snell was vice president of planning and development for Sempra Energy.

    Before joining Sempra Energy in 2001, Snell served as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Earth Tech, a Long Beach, Calif.-based water management, engineering and environmental services firm. Earth Tech specializes in the design, building and operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities.

    Before joining Earth Tech, Snell was executive vice president and chief financial officer at Dames and Moore, a NYSE listed engineering and construction firm headquartered in Los Angeles. At Dames and Moore, Snell guided the completion of acquisitions that more than doubled the firm's revenues.

    Snell also served as chief financial and administrative officer for Latham & Watkins, a law firm with more than 1,600 partners and employees worldwide. He also served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of World Oil Corp., a privately held, integrated oil company. As a senior manager at the Los Angeles office of KPMG Peat Marwick, Snell supervised activities that supported acquisitions by client companies.

    Snell is a member of the board of directors of Venoco Inc. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from San Diego State University and is a certified public accountant.

  • G. Joyce Rowland Senior Vice President, Human Resources

    G.     In her current position, Rowland is responsible for corporate human resources, including compensation, health and welfare benefits, employee relations, executive/leadership development, staffing and affirmative-action/diversity programs. She also is responsible for corporate security, human resource information systems and payroll.

    Previously, from 1995 to 1998, Rowland was vice president of human resources and chief ethics officer of Pacific Enterprises, the former parent company of Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas).

    From 1990 to 1995, Rowland served as manager of labor relations at SoCalGas. Prior to that, she was manager of personnel relations and planning. In 1987, she served as manager of community involvement and, later, manager of consumer affairs.

    She joined SoCalGas in 1980 as an organization and compensation specialist. She held a range of jobs in human resources between 1980 and 1987.

    Rowland has a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in industrial relations and a bachelor’s degree in psychology (graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also completed the executive education program at the University of Michigan and has a number of certifications including, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

    Rowland is a board member of the San Diego Better Business Bureau and the Equality California Institute. She is an alumna of the “2001 American Issues Forum of LEADERSHIP AMERICA,” and also is a member of a number of professional groups, including the Society for Human Resource Management, World at Work and Anthem Blue Cross of California's consumer relations committee.

  • Lisa Urick Vice President, Audit Services

    Urick has served on the board of the Conference of California Public Utility Counsel. She received her law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, and her bachelor’s degree in French literature and East Asian studies from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Mass.

  • Richard A. Vaccari Vice President and Treasurer

    Richard A. Vaccari is vice president and treasurer for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.     In his current position, Vaccari oversees financing, cash management, insurance and pension and nuclear decommissioning trust investments for the company, as well as strategic development activities. Previously, Vaccari was vice president of mergers and acquisitions for Sempra Energy. He also was managing director of Sempra Partners, an equity fund with financial and energy counterparts to acquire attractive gas and power assets.

    Prior to joining Sempra Energy in 2003, Vaccari spent more than 20 years in investment banking, focusing primarily on the power sector. He began his career at Goldman Sachs as vice president of the Public Utility Group, and served as a managing director in the Global Power Group at Merrill Lynch. He also worked for Credit Suisse First Boston, where he was a senior managing director in the energy group and responsible for some of the largest client relationships in the Midwest.

    Vaccari holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves on the board of CleanTECH San Diego.

  • Paul Yong Vice President, Tax and Chief Tax Counsel

    Paul Yong is vice president of tax and chief tax counsel for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies' 13,800 employees serve more than 29 million consumers worldwide.

    As vice president of tax and chief tax counsel, Yong oversees Sempra Energy's tax department. Previously, Yong was associate chief tax counsel for the company.

    Before joining Sempra Energy's tax department in 2004, Yong was a principal with Quantum Tax Consultants, a tax partner with Arthur Andersen and vice president of tax with Unocal Corporation.

    Before that, Yong was a structural engineer with the U.S. Department of Defense.

    Yong has a Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of Law, a master's degree in tax law from New York University and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Hawaii.
