Randall B. Peterson

Randall B. Peterson is vice president and chief compliance officer for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies' 13,500 employees serve more than 29 million consumers worldwide.

In his current job, Peterson oversees the company’s key compliance resources and activities, including business-conduct and legal-compliance programs. From 2002 to 2004, Peterson was vice president of Human Capital Services, overseeing payroll, human resource information technology, executive and employee development, and compliance-training programs.

Before that, Peterson was director of Audit Services for Sempra Energy from 1998 to 2001, and at Pacific Enterprises, the parent company of Southern California Gas Co., a job he held from 1995 to 1998.

Since joining Pacific Enterprises in 1984, Peterson has held a range of jobs of increasing responsibility in finance, accounting and auditing. He also has led many corporate reorganizations and realignments.

Prior to that, Peterson was an audit manager with Ernst & Whinney. Peterson has a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, and a number of professional audit and accounting certifications.

Peterson also devotes his energies in support of a number of youth sports and performing arts events.
