Steven D. Davis

Senior Vice President – External Affairs

Steven D. Davis is senior vice president of external affairs for Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services. The Sempra Energy companies’ nearly 17,000 employees serve more than 31 million consumers worldwide.

In his current role, Davis oversees corporate external affairs including governmental and regulatory affairs, communications, issues management and the corporate secretary and sustainability functions.

Previously, Davis served as vice president of investor relations and corporate communications where he was responsible for Sempra Energy’s shareholder and investor communications as well as all corporate communications, branding and web functions.

Prior to this role, Davis served as vice president of communications and community partnerships, where he oversaw Sempra Energy’s communications and community relations activities, as well as the company’s media relations, employee communications, issues management, corporate branding, advertising and reputation management.

Before that, Davis was senior vice president of external relations and chief financial officer for SDG&E and SoCalGas. Davis has also served as senior vice president of customer service and external relations for SDG&E and SoCalGas and vice president of distribution operations for SDG&E. Other executive assignments have included division manager of customer operations and division manager of governmental and administrative services.

Davis is a board member, member of the Executive Committee and chairman of the Audit Committee for the Campanile Foundation at San Diego State University. He is a board member of the California Chamber of Commerce and vice chairman of the board of Business Council for Sustainable Energy. Davis also serves on the advisory boards of San Diego Senior Community Centers and the San Diego Burn Institute.

Davis has a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting) from San Diego State University, where he graduated with honors.
